The 12th of the TEDU Migration Studies MIGS TALKS series will be held online on April 15, 2026, at 7:00 PM, with the participation of Özgür Güneş Öztürk from the Universitat de Lleida. The presentation will be titled "The Representation of Migration in the Media in Spain and Catalonia: A Critical Perspective".
This presentation explores how migration and migrant communities are represented in the media in Spain, with particular attention to the Catalan context. It analyses dominant narratives, framing strategies and discursive constructions through which migration is portrayed in both mainstream and alternative media. The session also examines how these representations have evolved in recent years, reflecting on their implications from gender-sensitive and anti-racist perspectives.
